Karuthal Sparsham

Karuthal is one of the very important projects carried out by Tharangam on behalf of the Chengannur-Mavelikara Diocese. This project aims to regularly support the families of Cancer, Cardiac and Renal failure patients, irrespective of religion and community. The patients and families undergo a lot of physical, mental and financial struggle as they deal with the situation. In addition the Covid19 pandemic has created difficulties for them to get the necessary treatment. Most families are finding it very difficult to make both ends meet. KARUTHAL program is to assure them of the continued support of the church during this challenging period. In case the patient dies an ex-gratia payment is given to the family members.

As part of this project, Provisional kits and Medical Aid are distributed three times in a year at Easter, Onam and Christmas. At the beginning of the academic year School bags, study material are distributed to the school/college going students. At present around 200 families in and around Chengannur, are benefitted under this project. Different parishes and individuals contribute generously towards the provisional kits and the Chengannur-Mavelikara Diocese provides the Medical Aid.
