Theeram

Theeram (Amphitheatre)

Theeram is an amphitheatre with a seating capacity of 1,000 people. A 25-ft-high cement statue of Jesus Christ walking on the sea, raising his arms in refuge of his disciples, is the centre of attraction of the river-facing amphitheatre.

The giant statue, christened Jesus Christ the Liberator, was sculpted by Balachandran Achary, a native of Kollam, who is settled at Pravincoodu, near Chengannur. The amphitheatre is a beautiful venue to hold outdoor meetings. The cool breeze of the evening with the sounds of flowing water and songs of the birds makes it an ethereal experience.
